October is the month where awareness is raised about Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence. In this episode we discuss our experience with these two topics when working in medical social work. We couldn't let the month go by without discussing this.

- Dr. Hadiyah Green who is doing valuable cancer research for women of color- her cancer research foundation is Oralee.org, she’s also on facebook and IG @oraleeorg.
- American Cancer Society (ACS) provides information and referrals to numerous education, community and patient support services, including financial assistance and transportation programs. To reach your local ACS, contact the national office at 800.227.2345.
- CancerCare provides limited financial assistance for homecare, childcare and transportation.800-813-HOPE (4673).
- Living beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) Grants can be used for living expenses such as mortgage, rent, utilities, and transportation. Grants will range from $500 - $1,000 depending on the applicant’s circumstances and as funding allows. Please note that grants cannot be used to cover medical expenses. Contact number (855) 807-6386.
- African American Breast Cancer Alliance is a non-profit out of Minneapolis that offers education and survivor support groups(aabcainc.org).
