Disparities in Child Welfare
April is Child Abuse Awareness Month and in this episode, we shine a light on the systemic issues and disparities that have long affected the child welfare system. These challenges continue to impact vulnerable children and families, making it essential for social workers to address and advocate for meaningful change.
We’re joined by Queen C, a native New Yorker with nearly 20 years of experience in the social service industry. Queen C has worked with populations affected by mental illness, HIV, substance use, public assistance and child welfare. Drawing from her professional expertise and personal experiences as a recipient of some of the very services she’s implemented for clients, she offers a unique perspective on the inequities within child welfare.
What You’ll Learn in This Episode:
- Key disparities in the child welfare system and how they affect children and families.
- The intersection of systemic issues and social work practice in child welfare.
- Insights into advocating for equitable policies and improved outcomes.
